What shipped, and what it was.
Make your packing slip and download the PDF, with no account and no card. The list in the box and the invoice are different documents doing different jobs, and the second one goes wrong when it is copied from memory of the first.

What you can do
- Draw a packing slip from the order it belongs to, rather than retyping the lines
- Ship from the warehouse the goods are actually in
- Let stock post out as you sell, without telling the system about routine movement
- See what you hold, where it is and what it is worth, as it changes
- Have orders from your B2B store raise packing slips on their own
- Invoice what shipped, with the accounting posted as you finalize it
How it works
-
01
Draw it from the order
A quote or an order confirmation becomes a packing slip in one step, carrying its lines and its delivery address. The paper in the box and the record on file are the same document.
-
02
Stock moves as the goods do
Selling posts stock out and purchasing posts it in, per warehouse, and the running totals follow. You are not keeping a second count in a spreadsheet to compare against.
-
03
Bill what actually went
The invoice comes from the same lines, so what you charge for and what you shipped cannot disagree. Finalize it and the revenue, the receivable and the cost of what left the shelf are all posted.
Good to know - The product calls this a packing note, which is the same document under a name more common outside the US. Warehouses and stock movement need the Inventory extension switched on, under Settings -> Extensions; the document itself does not.
Questions
- What is the difference between a packing slip and an invoice?
- A packing slip says what is in the box. An invoice says what to pay. They usually list the same things and they answer to different people: the slip is checked by whoever opens the carton, the invoice by whoever settles the account. Drawing both from the same lines is what stops the two disagreeing.
- Does a packing slip show prices?
- That is a layout decision, and the layout is yours. Plenty of businesses ship a slip with quantities and no money on it, which is the usual choice when the person receiving the goods is not the person paying for them.
- Do I need stock management to use one?
- No. The packing slip is a standard document type and works on any plan. Warehouses, stock levels and movement need the Inventory extension, and that is what turns shipping into a stock figure rather than only a piece of paper.
